How does life coaching work?
Most coaching is done one-on-one and over the phone. My clients call me 2-3 times per month, depending on the client's needs. After an initial discovery session of assessments and evaluations to outline the goals of coaching, the client will have an agenda or topic to talk about, and I help her/him examine the issues, learn from it and move into action. Some of my clients are exploring career changes, others are trying to figure out how to juggle their family, career and personal growth with goals that can make them feel balanced and happy. I am as comfortable working with a 21 year old as I am with a 60 year old. I am also working with couples and business partners.
There is no rule book or formula to coaching. We will dance in the moment, brainstorm the best possible options for you, and think outside the box in ways you may never have considered. There are no right or wrong answers, just curiosity, perspectives and options. I don't have the answers for you. The answers come from within you after discussion and exploration.
By the end of a coaching session there is usually an obvious action that the client will plan to take. Or you may be asked to find your answer to a question like, "Are you honoring or stepping over your values?" We end most calls with "What are you going to do and how will I know you've done it?" With those two questions we have established a specific goal or task and an accountability for when it will be done as well as letting me know that it is done.
The key to coaching happens between the sessions when you make the many choices day to day. Do you take what you are learning and step into your life in new ways and on a new path, or do you stay in the same rut of the old path?

Private Coaching Sessions

2-3 sessions per month

In person- an option if you are near Shelton, CT
Conference calls if more than one client- couples, families, groups
Coaching is usually a monthly commitment, paid in advance, with three 45-minute sessions. Other arrangements can be made as well. A longer introductory session is scheduled first where we will review some assessments, design our alliance, get to know each other, and create a plan for our coaching. My commitment to you includes support between sessions via email or short phone calls if needed. I always want to hear about your accomplishments and triumphs!

For those of you in the Connecticut area, I offer a chance to do a workshop in groups of 3 to 16 people. Invite a small group of friends, family members, organization members, or co-workers to your home or organization and enjoy a life-altering hour of exploration. Topics can include New Year's Resolutions, health and wellness, time management, living a balanced life, better relationships, or banishing the saboteur. I am also trained in organization and relationship systems coaching. This can be helpful for family groups going through transitions such as an upcoming wedding, or move, and is also helpful in the transition of teens going off to college.
